Hukumnya ialah berdoa disunatkan dalam semua sujud dan tidak hanya khusus dalam sujud terakhir. Daripada Abu Hurairah, bahawa Rasulullah SAW bersabda: أقرب ما يكون العبد من ربه وهو ساجد ، فأكثروا الدعاء Maksudnya: "Keadaan yang paling dekat seseorang hamba dengan Tuhan-nya ialah ketika dia bersujud. Maka perbanyakkanlah berdoa (pada waktu sujud)." Riwayat Muslim dan al-Nasaie.   Dibolehkan untuk memperbanyakkan doa sama ada secara lisan ataupun dalam hati    Terdapat khilaf untuk menggunakan bahasa selain Arab untuk berdoa secara lisan.    Yang terpilih ialah berdoa menggunakan bahasa Arab secara lisan.    Adapun menggunakan bahasa Melayu contohnya, maka cukuplah di dalam hati.    Tetapi yang paling afdal, ikutilah sunnah Rasulullah SAW.     Wallahuaʿlam
